Lullaby and goodnight.

I will be away from my baby for five days. That's four nights. Four nights of someone else putting her to bed. Will they do it right? Will her grandma sing to her and hold her (and her sock monkey and llama and blanket)? Will the grandparents actually follow my instructions so that Avery (and subsequently them) sleeps better? She isn't a complicated baby but if you put her in her crib in YOUR room she won't go to sleep. She knows you're there, grandparents. I will pack the monitor and even set it up for you. She can sleep in another room. I swear. She's been doing it for several months now.
And if she fusses when you put her down? Yeah, she does that. It will stop shortly and she will go to sleep. You don't have to keep picking her up. If you do that she will NEVER go to sleep and it will be all your fault. So do what I say and everybody wins.
ANYWAY. I will miss her. This trip to NYC will be amazing but I have never been away from her for more than one night. I will miss my husband too but he and I had a long-distance relationship when we first got married so this is nothing new to us. He has never been alone with the baby overnight but I know he'll do just fine. He's a rad father and can put her to bed just like I do. Everything else is easy. They will be fine. Right? The world doesn't fall apart just because mama is away. And hopefully I won't fall apart just because I'm not with them.
Do you think one of my roommates will let me rock them to sleep while humming Brahms' "Lullaby"?

You'll both be fine. SEE YOU SOON.
You will be okay, and if I was going you could rock me in your bossism.

I have found over the years that my kids are FAR easier on my parents at bed time than they are on me.
Last time the 2 yo said "Papaw, I tired. Ess go to bed." And they went. She crawled up in bed with him and fell asleep until 10 the next day. WTH?
Wonder where my mom slept.
Aww...I thought she would be going with you lol
